My experience as an Erasmus+ student
My name is Kristi Gjoni, 26 years old, I am studying Biology-Chemistry, Master degree at “Fan S. Noli” University of Korça, Albania and now I am attending studies at the University of Daugavpils in Latvia thanks to the Erasmus + program. My decision to participate in the Erasmus+ study mobility program came from the willingness to expand my academic knowledge and integrate myself in different cultures. I believe that this as an opportunity, which offers valuable international experience to enrich my language skills at the same time. Before the mobility period, academic institutions, the sending and the Host University were very supportive. They provided thorough guidance on the application process, academic requirements and logistical arrangements.
Now, in the period during the mobility, communication with both institutions is very helpful; they provide academic and personal support whenever needed. Academically, participating in the Erasmus+ study mobility program gave me the chance to explore specialized courses, enriching my knowledge in the field of study. Personally, I developed more independence, adaptability and intercultural competence by integrating in a new environment and creating important connections with other students from different backgrounds.
One of the strongest impressions during my Erasmus+ mobility is the opportunity to find myself in a new culture and new life. I am amazed by the rich history, vibrant community and warm hospitality of the host country. Exploring the city, participating in local festivals, interacting with the locals are unforgettable experiences that broaden my perspective and enrich my personal growth. For the next Erasmus+ years, I advise other students to take every opportunity to experience a cultural exchange, get out of their comfort zone and actively engage with the local community. The Erasmus+ mobility is, so far, an unforgettable experience, shaping my academic and professional life. I am very grateful to the University of Daugavpils, as well as the Erasmus+ program for making me experience such a beautiful journey. I am also grateful to the “Fan S. Noli” University of Korça for giving offering this opportunity and supporting me to successfully finish this experience.
