Internal Quality Assurance Unit
The Internal Quality Assurance Unit (IQAU) was incorporated into the University structure as a new unit, following the approval by the University “Fan S. Noli” Board of Administration with Decision No. 2 dated on 06.05.2008 and University Senate Decision no. 33, dated on 17.11.2009 that decided to establish this unit and its composition. It operates pursuant to Article 103 of Law no. 80/2015 “On Higher Education and Research in Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Albania” and according to the criteria set forth in Articles 73 and 74 of Chapter IX “Quality Assurance” of the Statute of University “Fan S. Noli”. The Internal Quality Assurance Unit is composed of one Coordinator from each main unit. In every main unit is established the Internal Assurance Group with representation from each base unit and student organizations.
IQAU supports and provides expertise. Its members regularly visit each faculty and department and are invited to provide expertise in developing relevant quality assurance processes. In particular, the expertise focuses on the implementation of quality assurance mechanisms in teaching, student assessment and involvement in the learning process. The IQAU coordinates communication between different structures, especially when the process is delegated to the faculties or when there is an evaluation process organized by the University. This coordinating role extends to other units at the University when the process involves staff development and the collection / analysis of institutional data.
The IQAU interprets national and European quality assurance obligations in order to adapt them to the institutional context. Thus, the members of the IQAU ensure that these national and European obligations are recognized and incorporated by the university. The IQAU monitors by providing guidance, gathering information and identifying problems for solution. The IQAU administers, organizes and prepares external evaluation visits or invites external experts to train internal evaluation staff.
