CONTINUOUS TRAINING STUDIES. CENTER OF EXCELLENCE “FEP”

The Center of Excellence intends to develop training and qualification activities for the teachers. It mainly focuses on enhancing teaching and innovation skills in education, methods and practices used by the professional teachers, in rebuilding the social concept of the collaboration with school, etc.

The Center is the main training institution for the qualification of the teaching staff in schools of Korça region and further. It has a continuous collaboration with the Directory of Education and the Education Offices in the area. It offers training programs for eight teaching profiles and helps them to improve their professional qualifications and apply them in their teaching experience.

The Center can be found within the premises of the Faculty of Education and Philology (the video conference room, no. 334, 3rd floor). It offers a modern infrastructure appropriate for the qualification trainings of the teachers in service. The Center is managed by a coordinator, and is composed by a qualified staff of experienced lecturers of each of the departments of the Faculty as well as of other educational and administrative institutions.

The Center of Excellence, from the academic year 2013-2014, has annually organized teacher trainings divided in six sessions, taking place from November to April. Every academic year the center elaborates its guide, which is delivered to all schools, in electronic and printed version. (brochure).

In the academic year 2013-2014, this center certified 736 teachers, and for the academic year 2014-2015, 628 teachers (in total 1364 teachers). The Center of Excellence has an adequate infrastructure for teacher’s training sessions and a proper library for this purpose, including 210 titles and about 960 books. The trainings may be organized in other rooms: in the Faculty library, in the internet room, in the Laboratory of the Foreign Languages, etc.

CONTINUOUS TRAINING STUDIES. CENTER OF EXCELLENCE “FNHS”

Based on the instructions of MES, Order no. 110, and no. 09.03.2011 on: “Needs for Training of Teachers and Directors of Pre-university Level”, the Centre of Excellence was opened in the premises of the Faculty of Natural and Human Sciences to function as a research and training unit.

The mission of this center is to offer qualified trainings of specialists in the relevant fields and to promote scientific research in natural and human sciences. It functions as a training and research unit in the field of the didactics of sciences, certified and accredited by the Ministry of Education and Science (MES).

Beside the focus on research activity of the Faculty, the Center of Excellence develops a wide range of training activities by providing training programs for teachers in service in Korca Region and beyond, in the fields of:

Social Sciences: Philosophy, Sociology;

Natural Sciences: Mathematics, Physics, Informatics, Biology, Chemistry,

These training programs organized on 17 modules aim to develop teaching skills and leadership skills for schools staff.  The Centre of Excellence operates in reconstructed environments of the Faculty of Natural and Human Sciences, with a modern teaching infrastructure and laboratories, suitable for training activities. It is managed by a highly qualified academic supervisor, and qualified lecturers and researchers are frequently engaged in different activities .
