CONTINUOUS TRAINING STUDIES. CENTER OF EXCELLENCE “FEF”

The Center of Excellence intends to develop training and qualification activities for the teachers. It mainly focuses on enhancing teaching and innovation skills in education, methods and practices used by the professional teachers, in rebuilding the social concept of the collaboration with school, etc.

The Center is the main training institution for the qualification of the teaching staff in schools of Korça region and further. It has a continuous collaboration with the Directory of Education and the Education Offices in the area. It offers training programs for eight teaching profiles and helps them to improve their professional qualifications and apply them in their teaching experience.

The Center can be found within the premises of the Faculty of Education and Philology (the video conference room, no. 334, 3rd floor). It offers a modern infrastructure appropriate for the qualification trainings of the teachers in service. The Center is managed by a coordinator, and is composed by a qualified staff of experienced lecturers of each of the departments of the Faculty as well as of other educational and administrative institutions.

The Center of Excellence, from the academic year 2013-2014, has annually organized teacher trainings divided in six sessions, taking place from November to April. Every academic year the center elaborates its guide, which is delivered to all schools, in electronic and printed version. (brochure).

In the academic year 2013-2014, this center certified 736 teachers, and for the academic year 2014-2015, 628 teachers (in total 1364 teachers). The Center of Excellence has an adequate infrastructure for teacher’s training sessions and a proper library for this purpose, including 210 titles and about 960 books. The trainings may be organized in other rooms: in the Faculty library, in the internet room, in the Laboratory of the Foreign Languages, etc.

In the framework of joint projects, the Centre of Excellence at the Faculty of Education and Philology has implemented a number of projects on training. In cooperation with Save the Children, MEDPAK and Cooperazione Italiana allo Sviluppo, during the period March- May 2015, the Center of Excellence, was selected to conduct training sessions in 7 regions of Albania, with teachers of pre-university education system in the field of inclusive education and learning difficulties in schools. During this period, there were trained and certified 420 teachers, 60 teachers for each region: Korçë, Gjirokastër, Durrës, Vlorë, Elbasan, Peshkopi, Burrel.

For the period, September 2015 – April 2016, in cooperation with MEDPAK and World Vision, there were realized training sessions for the teachers in these districts: Tropojë, Kukës, Tiranë, Vlorë, Korçë, where were trained and certified 220 other teachers.

During 2016, in the period April-September, in the framework of the project of MES, in cooperation with Save the Children, Cooperazione Italiana allo Sviluppo and MEDPAK, was conducted the training and certification of all teachers in Albania, in accordance with the Instruction no. 38, dated 7/10/2014 MES, and some employees of the psycho-social service of Regional Directorate of Education.

This project enabled the training of 200 teachers and specialists, in three centers: Vlora, Elbasan and Tirana. In the future, this center will become a lifelong learning center for teachers in a national level.
